What does it represent?

We've been asked many times since our 2006 opening to explain the meaning or inspiration behind our choice of logo. To be honest, that's exactly what we wanted to have happen. One of the things that drew us to the design was its unclear meaning. We wanted something that would present itself differently to each individual; much like a piece of fine modern art which conjures different opinions and emotions in different viewers. So, when asked what our logo represents, our common response is simply, “what does it represent to you?” You make your own decision.

But I know that's too easy. Some of the things we feel our logo represents are:

  • Health and wellness is a journey, not a destination. A part of every epic journey is the setting, and the subsequent achievement of goals, whether conscious or subconscious. When we look at the natural high logo we see a horizon. This horizon represents the journey we are all on – traveling toward our goals; not looking back, not holding onto what we once were, and not grasping our setbacks, but proactively advancing and improving in one of our most important and precious resources – our health.
  • Life is full of constant fluctuation. We all experience set backs. For some of us it seems that our setbacks outnumber our successes. But no matter how rough and difficult some situations feel, for those who conjure the energy to maintain a positive outlook and recognize that there is always light at the end of the tunnel, these setbacks will come full circle. Resilient people bounce back. The natural high logo represents this natural cycle – although there are occasional breaks in the progression, we ultimately travel a full circle in life, from simply surviving, back to thriving.
  • The universe is in a contact state of imbalance. It is in this imbalance, however, that perfection is born. Without imbalance, balance can not exist. Without darkness, there is no light. Take walking for example; the simple act of placing one foot in front of the other to move forward in life can not happen without frequent periods of imbalance. Perfection is the child of imperfection. The natural high logo is imperfect. We wanted brushstroke lines to represent this roughness and imbalance in life. We wanted a logo that was not easily reproducible for this same reason. Nothing in our lives, because of the imperfection of it, is exactly reproducible.
  • The number 6 is strongly represented in the logo in the six individual lines which make up the symbol. The number 6 is significant to natural high fitness & athletics as it represents:

    • The six foundational principles of health and wellness:
      • Thoughts
      • Breath
      • Hydration
      • Nutrition
      • Movement
      • Circadian Rhythms

    • The six pillars of wellness
      • Mental/Intellectual
      • Spiritual
      • Social
      • Physical
      • Environmental
      • Emotional

    • The six bodily chakras
      • 1st – Root Chakra – Muladhara
      • 2nd – Sacral Chakra – Svadhisthana
      • 3rd – Solar Plexus – Manipura
      • 4th – Heart – Anahata
      • 5th – Throat – Vishuddha
      • 6th – Third Eye – Ajna
      • (The 7th – Crown – Sahasrara Chakra is represented by the complete circle – the wholeness of the symbol represents the wholeness of life which is essential for spiritual development and fulfillment, the main issue corresponding to this 7th Chakra)

    • My six secrets to success in life
      • Never lose sight of the central aim of your life – what is the purpose of your life? Answer this question for yourself and mobilize all your energies towards it.
      • A sense of thrift (downsizing) is essential for success in a healthy life.
      • You must run your own life. Take risks and be your own person, but be prepared to take ownership – don't play the blame game.
      • Be humble and thankful. Recognize your many blessings. Too often we focus on what we don't have and energize ourselves in that direction. Realign your thoughts and accumulate an unassuming energy.
      • You must constantly seek new horizons – new ways to improve and new adventures to suck more marrow out of life.
      • Guarantees must always be honored – be impeccable with your word
      • Forced growth can be fatal. Be present in your life; be an active participant, but let it happen.

We'd love to hear from you on this topic. Please contact us to tell us your thoughts. What does the logo mean to you?
